Thrifty Pig is operated by Empowering Software (ABN 71 611 927 582) in New South Wales, Australia (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. If you have a question, email troy@empoweringsoftware.net.
Your account. Your name, email address and the timezone you use the app in. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash: we cannot see or recover it.
Your budget. Everything you enter into Thrifty Pig: your pots, their balances, your income, bills and transfers, and the top-ups you record. You can optionally add a BSB and account number to a pot so you know which account it is. Thrifty Pig never connects to your bank, cannot see your bank accounts, and never moves money.
Your household. If you invite someone to share your budget, we store their email address so we can send the invitation.
Feedback. Anything you send through the Feedback panel, together with the page you sent it from.
Payments. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store them. We keep your subscription status and the reference Stripe gives us for your account.
Signing in. When you sign in, we record your device’s IP address and browser type with your session, to keep your account secure.
Visits to our website. We count visits and a few actions — for example, that someone used the calculator or signed up — using Vercel Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and does not identify you. Before anything is sent, we remove details from page addresses that could identify you or your account, and we never send the figures you type into the calculator.
Which link brought you. If you arrive through one of our posts or ads, its link carries a short label naming the campaign (such as “facebook” and “post02”). Your browser remembers that label on your device for up to 30 days, and if you sign up we save it with your account, so we know which posts are worth making. It is never anything about you.
We use only the cookies Thrifty Pig needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, and one that tells the website whether to show the signed-in menu. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
We use a small number of service providers to run Thrifty Pig. They handle your information only to provide their service to us.

Vercel

Because Stripe, Resend and parts of Vercel operate outside Australia, some of your information — mainly your name and email address, and payment details held by Stripe — may be handled overseas. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Everything travels over encrypted connections, and passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Only the people who run Thrifty Pig can access the database, and only to operate and support the service.
We keep your information while you have an account. To delete your account, email troy@empoweringsoftware.net and we will delete your account and budget within 30 days. Stripe keeps records of payments as the law requires.
You can see and change your budget in the app at any time. To ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, email troy@empoweringsoftware.net.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email troy@empoweringsoftware.net and we will respond within 30 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
If we change this policy we will update it here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will email you about it first.
